Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola rosea is the root of an arctic and alpine succulent found across Scandinavia, Siberia and mountain Asia. Extracts are characterised by two marker groups: rosavins and salidroside.

Honest information about Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola Rosea is included in our formulas as a botanical ingredient with traditional wellness heritage. No authorised health claim has been approved for it under EU or GB law, so we share only its identity, origin, dose and documented history — never implied benefits.

Claims held “on hold” pending evaluation are treated here as unauthorised. We will not imply an effect through images, testimonials or suggestive wording either.

Forms and what appears on a label

The conventional specification is 3% rosavins with 1% salidroside, reflecting the ratio in the raw root. Rhodiola is widely adulterated with cheaper Rhodiola species, so botanical identity testing matters more here than in most botanicals.

Where it comes from

High-altitude regions of Europe and Asia.

Dose and how we use it

Featured in Cognitive Vitality and Masculine Vitality.

Best taken on an empty stomach 30 minutes before breakfast or lunch.

Documented traditional use

Rhodiola appears in Scandinavian and Russian folk records, and later in Soviet-era research programmes. Both are historical context, not evidence.

What research has — and has not — established

Trials in fatigue and mental performance are mostly small, short and conducted with single proprietary extracts. Reviews describe the evidence as preliminary. No EU or GB health claim is authorised.

Cautions and interactions

Take earlier in the day; some people find it disturbs sleep if taken late. Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek advice if you take antidepressants or have bipolar disorder.
