Green Tea

Green tea extract is prepared from the unfermented leaf of Camellia sinensis. Its characterising compounds are catechins, of which epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the most abundant, alongside naturally occurring caffeine.

Honest information about Green Tea

Green Tea is included in our formulas as a botanical ingredient with traditional wellness heritage. No authorised health claim has been approved for it under EU or GB law, so we share only its identity, origin, dose and documented history — never implied benefits.

Claims held “on hold” pending evaluation are treated here as unauthorised. We will not imply an effect through images, testimonials or suggestive wording either.

Forms and what appears on a label

Labels should declare both total catechins and EGCG in milligrams, and state whether the extract is decaffeinated. European authorities have set a safety threshold at 800 mg EGCG per day from supplements, so an explicit EGCG figure is essential — not optional.

Where it comes from

Leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant.

Dose and how we use it

A core metabolic support ingredient in Thermo and Metabolism Vitality.

Look for extracts standardised to high levels of polyphenols and catechins.

Documented traditional use

Green tea has been drunk in East Asia for well over a thousand years. Beverage use is not a claim about concentrated extracts.

What research has — and has not — established

Catechins have been widely studied in weight management and cardiometabolic markers, with small average effects, high variability and repeated concerns about concentrated extracts. No EU or GB health claim for green tea catechins is authorised.

Cautions and interactions

Do not exceed the EGCG amount stated on the label, and do not combine several catechin products. Cases of liver injury have been reported with high-dose extracts — stop use and seek medical advice if you notice jaundice, dark urine or unexplained fatigue. Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contains caffeine unless declared decaffeinated.
